August 13 - International Left-handers Day

Check it out everyone it's International Left-handers Day. I would imagine, being a right-hander myself, that this day brings great joy and fulfillment to those left-handed people in the world who have felt left out. Well feel it no more, today is for you.

If you're not left-handed why not try doing some of your day-to-day tasks with your left hand instead of the right. Challenge yourself and have a laugh while doing it.

Left-handers day started in 1992 by the Left-Handers Club. Here is a list of famous left-handers.

Now for some history, both left-handed and right.

-3114 BC According to the Lounsbury correlation, the start of the Maya calendar.
-1521 Spanish conquerors Tenochtitlan (Mexico City) from Aztecs.
-1535 As Jacques Cartier neared Anticosti, 2 Indian youths informed him that the route to Canada ("chemin de Canada") lay to the south of the island. By Canada they meant Stadacona, but Cartier used the name in a broader sense for the first time.
-1792 Revolutionaries imprison French royals including Marie Antoinette.
-1816 Lord Selkirk seized the North West Company's western depot at Fort William.
