To all you comic book and super-hero lovers out there I hope your celebrating today with great enthusiasm for the nerdy but lovable spider man. I expect lots of kids and adults will be walking around in their spidey costumes or at least having a sipder-man-athon.
Lughnasa a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season that was historically observed throughout Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man and is one of the four Gaelic seasonal festivals; along with Samhain, Imbolc and Beltane.
Don't forget to do your singing today, especially your rounds, it is after all Rounds Resounding Day. Don't know what a round is, well I'll tell you. Rounds Resounding Day, sponsored by the Rounds Resounding Society, celebrates the singing of rounds, catches and canons. Rounds are musical compositions where two or more people sing the same melody, basically on a loop, but start at different times. As they sing, different parts of the melody overlap, but ultimately fit together in perfect harmony.

-1957 Talks between Canada and the US culminated in the announcement of the establishment of an integrated command that would centralize operational control of all air defence, to be called NORAD (North American Air Defence). A formal agreement was signed 12 May 1958.
-1975 The Helsinki accords were signed. Canada was one of the signatories, agreeing to respect the human rights and freedoms of its subjects.
