Join Corrie for our final Free Read Café tonight at 6:30! Come to the Library for a brief reading from "The Color Purple", then join the discussion of why it has undergone challenges and bans since it was first published.

Winterfest Polar Dip 2014

Sylvan Lake Winterfest Polar Dip.

Many thanks to our staff member Corrie Brown, and Library volunteer Frank Webb who volunteered to plunge into a dunk tank for Sylvan Lake Winterfest's annual polar dip on Saturday, February 15. Corrie and Frank chose the Sylvan Lake Municipal Library as their Not-for-Profit Charitable Group of choice for the second year in a row.

Together they raised almost $900. All of the pledges collected will help support Library programs.

Special thanks to Heather Parker for her creative talents. Heather transformed Corrie and Frank into the Cats in the Hats.

Reading Bingo Community Literacy Challenge 2014

We challenge you -Sylvan Lake- to play READING BINGO this year. There will be prizes as you progress through the bingo challenge. Cards available at the library.

.Last year the Community Challenge was to read 100 books to celebrate the town's bicentennial. A lot of us finished our challenge and read over 100 books in 2013. This year it will be BINGO! Play along with members of your community, have fun and promote literacy.
